Our Company History
Jerome Fire Equipment Co., Inc. was founded in 1967 by Manny Jerome, selling and servicing fire extinguishers out of the family home in Clay, NY. In 1971 the business acquired 8 acres of property nearby and expanded its operations into firefighting equipment and fire apparatus sales and service. In 1995, Manny’s son Russell joined the business and subsequently took over business operations upon Manny’s retirement from the company in 2001. Russell credits the ongoing success of the business to his team of 35 dedicated, caring, and customer-focused employees.
Today, Jerome Fire operates from a 15,000 square foot facility of administrative offices, product warehousing, a full service fire extinguisher and fire suppression systems maintenance facility; DOT licensed hydro-testing, a SCBA service and repair center, and a 6 bay fire apparatus service center. In addition to in-house services, Jerome Fire is equipped with a Company Fleet of 12 GPS enabled vehicles which deliver our products and services directly to our customers.
For over 50 years, Jerome Fire has proudly supported the fire protection needs of firefighters, businesses, and homeowners of the Central and Northern New York region.
What we offer
Jerome Fire works closely with local Fire Departments to serve First Responder’s needs with firefighting tools and equipment, technical training support, and equipment maintenance. Our Fire Equipment division supports Fire Departments and Firefighters in the capacity of complete personal protective equipment as well as with every “tool of the trade” that First Responders use each day in performing their heroic service to our communities.
Jerome’s Fire Apparatus Sales and Service division provides our Fire Department customers with Rapid Response Fire Apparatus Units and EVT certified apparatus maintenance – we build emergency vehicles and keep entire apparatus fleets well maintained and ready to respond when called to action. Our six bay Apparatus Service Center provides everything from standard preventative maintenance to complete custom apparatus refurbishment. The Apparatus Service division is also equipped with mobile on-site service vehicles providing for quick and convenient field support for our Fire Department customers.
In support of commercial and residential fire protection, our Fire Extinguisher and Fire Suppression Systems division provides our customers with sales and service of both hand portable fire extinguishers as well as full system based fire protection, supported by a full fleet of mobile service vehicles providing on-site service capabilities.
